Day 01 – Airport / Chilaw / Sigiriya
On arrival at Colombo Airport you will be warmly welcome by our representative and arrange your all facilities including Transport /Local Guide, / Local Sim Cards , Afterwards Proceed To Sigiriya. En-Route Visiting Replica Of Murugan Temple, Manavari & Munneswaram Temples. Dinner & Overnight Stay At Sigiriya Hotel.
The First Lingam Was Installed At Manavari Near The Banks Of The Deduruoya (River). The Manavari Temple In Chilaw, Is The Place Where First Lingam Installed And Prayed By Rama, Hence To Date This Lingam Is Called As Ramalingashivan. Rameshwaram Is The Only Other Lingam In The World Named After Lord Rama.
It Is Believed That Munneswaram Predates The Ramayana And A Temple Dedicated To Lord Shiva Was Located Here. Munneswaram Means The First Temple For Shiva (Munnu + Easwaran). A Shiva Lingam Was Already Here When Lord Rama Visited This Place. Lord Rama After His Victorious Battle Left For Ayodhya With Sita In One Of King Ravana’s vimanas.
Day 02 – Sigiriya / Dunuvila / Lakgala / Kandy
After Breakfast Proceed To Kandy En-Route Visiting Dambulla Cave Temple &Golden Buddha Temple, Lakeala & Dunuvila ( Ramayana Relative Places ), Herbal & Spice Garden, Muththu Mari Amman Temple In Matale. In The Evening Can Visit The Temple Of The Tooth Relic In Kandy And View A Traditional Cultural Dance Performance. Dinner & Overnight Stay at Hotel.
Sigiriyais An Ancient Rock Fortress Refers To A Site Of Historical And Archaeological Significance That Is Dominated By A Massive Column Of Rock Nearly 200 Meters (660 Ft.) High. According To The Ancient Sri Lankan Chronicle The Culavamsa, This Site Was Selected By King Kasyapa (477 – 495 Ce) For His New Capital. He Built His Palace On The Top Of This Rock And Decorated Its Sides With Colorful Frescoes.
Dunuvila In The Outskirts Of Wasgamuwa National Park Is Sometimes Spelled Dunuwila, Dunuvila, Or Dunuwilla. It Is Said To Have Been The Place From Where Lord Rama Fired The Deadly Brahmasthram Weapon At King Ravana.
Lakegala Near Dunuvila Is Another Place In The Northeastern Area Of The Highlands Which In Recent Times Became Associated With The Ramayana, Because The Name Laggala Or Lakgala Or Lakegala Is Derived Form The Sinhala Term Elakka Gala Meaning Target Rock.
Day 03 – Kandy / Yahangala / Sita Kotuwa / Gurulupotha / Hasalaka / Nuwara Eliya
After Breakfast Proceed To Nuwara-Eliya, Via Hasalaka, On The Way Visiting Yahangala (Bed Rock), Sita Kotuwa (Fortress Of Sita), Gurulupotha (Ravana’s Aircraft Center) And Travel To The Hill Country. (Nuwara Eliya Is Called The Little England). Dinner & Overnight Stay At Hotel.
Yahangala Means Bedrock. The Ramayana Trail Legend Interprets This Name In The Following Way: King Ravana’s Dead Body Was Kept Upon This Rock For His Fellow Countrymen To Allow Them To Pay Their Last Respects To Their Departed Highly Respected King.
Gurulupotha Is Believed To Have Served As An Aircraft Repair Center In The Capital City Of King Ravana, Because The Sinhalese Name Gurulupotha Means “Parts Of Birds”. In Valmiki’s Depiction Of King Ravana’s pushpakavimana.
Sitakotuwa Is Situated Close To Gurulupotha, Hasalaka. It Is A Beautiful Remote Spot, Surrounded By Streams And Waterfalls And Limestone Caves And Abundant Flora And Fauna, Where Ruins Of A Typical Forest Monastery From The Late Anuradhapura Centuries (7th To 10th Century) Can Be Visited.
Weragantota Means “Place Of Aircraft Landing” In Sinhala Language (In King Ravana’s pushpakavimana). It Is Believed To Be The Airport Where Dandumonara Carrying Sita Devi Landed After She Was Abducted From The Land Of Rama To Lanka.
Day 04 – Nuwara Eliya / Ramboda / Colombo
After Breakfast Proceed To Colombo From Nuwara Eliya, En-Route Vistingsita Amman Temple &Ashokavatica, Gayathreepeedam Temple, Tea Plantation & Factory, Ramboda Water Fall & Hanumanji Temple And Finally Reaching Colombo. In The Evening Sightseeing Tour And Shopping Taking You To The Busy Commercial Areas As Well As Tree-Lined Residential. Sita Amman Temple & Ashoka Vanam :
Sita Amman Temple, Located Halfway Between The Highland Village Of Sita-Eliya And The Hakgala Botanical Gardens, Has Become The Most Venerated Of All Ramayana Trail Sites In Sri Lanka, Because It Is Believed To Be The Place Where Sita Lived Most Of The Time Of Her Captivity On The Island Of Lanka.
Gayathree Matha/Amman Temple :
Gayathripitam, Also Spelled As Gayaththripeedam, Is Within The Nuwara-Eliya Town, The First And Most Significant Temple Built For Gayathri Amman In Sri Lanka. Gayathri Being An Aspect Of Saraswati And The Universal Mother. The Temple Was Founded By The Gayathrisiddhar Swami Murusegu.
Sri Bhaktha Hanumanji Temple :
The Sri Lankan Branch Of The Chinmaya Mission, Committed To Promoting The Ramayana Philosophy As Well As Ramayana Trail Pilgrimages, Has Built A Temple With Hanuman As A Presiding Deity In Ramboda Between Kandy And Nuwara Eliya Main Road. There Is A 5 Meters Tall Granite Statue Of Rama’s Devote Supporter Hanuman.
Day 05 – Colombo / Airport
After Breakfast On The Way Visit Panchamugaanjaneyer Hanuman Temple, Kalaniyavibeeshana Temple & Historical Ancient Buddha Temple (Buddha Visited Place) If Possible Shopping & Sightseeing Tour In Colombo And Transfer To The Airport For Your Departure Flight According To The Flight Schedule.
Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple:
Hanuman Is Often Called Anjaneyar By Tamils, As His Mother’s Name Is Anjan. This Kovil Is The First Anjaneyar Temple In Sri Lanka And Dedicated To Lord Hanuman In His Panchamuga Form. Annually At The End Of December Or In The Beginning Of January The Feast Is Celebrated.
Kalaniya Vibeeshana Temple :
Kelaniya In Western Province Is A Buddhist Sanctuary Because It Was Believed To Have Been Visited By Buddha Himself. Within The Temple Premises There Is A Hindu Shrine Too.
